Swampside Skirmish [30×30]

“You struggle to keep your pace as you march across the putrid marsh, the waterlogged soil threatening to swallow your boots with every step.

You glance up from the path to survey your surroundings, and find yourself at the edge of an ancient battlefield. Rotting standards hang from bowed and splintered poles, their tattered ends, heavy with moss and damp, occasionally swell as a staccato wind screams through the swamp.

You press on, even as the path begins to give way to the stagnant water and your chest begins to tighten with a growing sense of dread. As you wade through waist-deep water, the wind dies down to eerie silence, and you stop, the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end and a cold sweat forming on your brow.

You feel something brush against your leg, and leap back in fear. You lose your footing, and slip into the swamp. In the half-light of the murky water, you see them: dozens of rotting corpses clad in rusted mail and plate, faces frozen in an undying scream.”

Swampside Skirmish is a 30×30 map, the site of an ancient battle still haunted by the ghosts of those who died in its putrid waters, perfect for a horror encounter or a skirmish on rough terrain. We’ve also provided variants for a blood-filled swamp, or with our new corpse assets, should you wish to subject your players to an even more horrible scene.

This map, as usual, comes with a number of tiles to adjust the encounter to your needs, and has been set up with in our Foundry module to make it easy for you to swap between the variants!
